WASHINGTON, D.C. (-TheSarpyCounty) – Congressman Don Bacon was treated for appendicitis at Walter Reed Hospital late Wednesday night.
According to a news statement from his press office in Washington, D.C., the congressman for Nebraska’s 2nd District went to the hospital with “severe stomach pain.”
According to the statement, Bacon described the emergency operation as a “home run.”
Thursday afternoon, he was released from the hospital, a spokesperson confirmed.
“I would want to thank the medical staff at Walter Reed Hospital for the prompt and effective care they offered not just to me, but also to the patients they serve every day. I anticipate a complete recovery and speedy return to work.”
His political opponent, Democrat Tony Vargas, posted on Twitter that he was “sending prayers” and was “happy to hear the surgery was successful” and wished him a “speedy recovery.”
