Compound in wine and tea may reduce dementia plaque within ‘a week’ – ‘Strong efficacy’

Researchers in the field of nutrition said in an article published in the Journal of Food Science and Nutrition in 2018 that “this chemical has crucial roles in human health and is well known for its numerous biological activities such as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities.”

In point of fact, a number of studies have demonstrated that resveratrol is effective in the treatment of a variety of illnesses, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, obesity, and age-related sickness.

In a similar vein, a plethora of studies have investigated the catechins found in green tea and their potential to eliminate pathogenic organisms from the body.

The findings of the research have repeatedly demonstrated that the molecule possesses anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant characteristics.

Cairns made the following observation regarding the search for chemicals: “We hoped to identify substances that would be innocuous and show some levels of efficacy.”

“We lucked up in that some of these exhibited some really substantial efficacy,” the researcher said. In the case of these compounds, which were successful in passing the screening, after approximately one week there were almost no plaques visible.

The researcher went on to say that “[…] natural sources of resveratrol include things like red wine, some fruits including grapes, blueberries, and cranberries, peanuts, pistachios, and cocoa.”

“While it is empowering to be able to take actions such as these to potentially avoid neuro-degeneration in the future, it is also crucial to talk with your health-care practitioner before making any significant changes to your diet,”

The findings, according to the researchers, give a compelling argument for utilizing the two chemicals in pharmaceutical applications in order to make them more accessible.

According to Cairns, this would make it possible for resveratrol and catechins to cross the brain barrier a bit better, which would increase the effectiveness of the two compounds even further.

When taken as a supplement or consumed as part of one’s diet, the two compounds can be safely consumed and conveniently obtained; however, supplements should not be taken without the direction of a skilled healthcare expert.
