Closing out the weekend with much warmer temperatures
HASTINGS, Neb. (Nebraska) — After a cold and breezy day today, temperatures will quickly warm up to the 50s to close out for the weekend. Before we get to those spring-like temperatures tomorrow afternoon, we’ll face another freezing morning as the high pressure settles overhead allowing for light winds and clear skies. Tomorrow morning the lows will bottom in the single digits in the north and the teens elsewhere. Tomorrow will be the better half of the weekend with much more sunshine. Although the winds will be light overnight, the winds will pick up again tomorrow. This time being out of the South which will help heat things up quickly in the afternoon. Highs will be closest to normal for mid-March in the upper 40s in the north to the mid 50s in the south.
The first day of spring arrives on Monday and it looks like Mother Nature has gotten the reminder as it will be a mostly sunny day with highs once again in the 50s. Our first chance for some precipitation comes Tuesday morning as a system moves through the region. Thankfully, this will be in the form of rain as temperatures will be above freezing. Warmer temperatures, breezy conditions and little other chance of rain the rest of the week as we remain in a semi-messy weather pattern. The good news is that we shouldn’t see any winter precipitation as temperatures remain above freezing until next weekend. While still quite early, there are signs that we could see a much stronger system next weekend which could bring heavier rains and possibly some thunderstorms.
