City of Omaha Celebrates America Concert Returns This June

OMAHA, Nebraska (Nebraska) – Omaha Celebrates America, a popular and annual summer concert due to return this June.

The free concert and fireworks display at Memorial Park will return on June 30th, following the traditional date of the Friday before Fourth of July, according to organizers.

Concert dates have changed since he returned after being canceled in 2019.

“This is an exciting date to announce every year,” Mayor Jean Stothert said in a press release. “It reminds us that summer is just around the corner and we can start planning to make it unforgettable with amazing Omaha events and traditions, including The City of Omaha Celebrates America concert and fireworks show.”

While the organizers are returning to the traditional date this year, they say it may change in the future to attract talent.

“This year the stars aligned on June 30 and some really top-notch talent,” said Omaha Parks Foundation Executive Director Tiffany Regan. “We are committed to bringing world-class musicians to Omaha. It may change our dates from year to year, but we think it’s worth it.”

Last year’s show was headlined by Sheryl Crow and opened by Dave Mason. The event attracted a large number of people to Memorial Park.

Talents for this year’s concert have not yet been announced. The announcement is expected at the end of April. Organizers say the event will also feature videos from local bands and musicians.

“This opportunity gives local artists the opportunity to submit music videos or apply for studio time to create videos,” organizers said. “Selected groups will be featured on screens throughout the day and between sets on the night of the show.”

Information on how local artists can apply will be posted at a later date.

As usual, the concert will be followed by fireworks, which organizers call one of the largest in the region. It is designed by J&M Displays of Yarmouth, Iowa.

The family event is free to attend and starts early on June 30th. The fireworks show will start around 22:00.
