OMAHA, Nebraska (Nebraska) – The date for the 2023 City of Omaha Celebrates America Fireworks Show has been announced.

The popular summer concert at Memorial Park this year is scheduled for Friday, June 30th. This is a return to the traditional Friday before the Fourth of July.

“This is an exciting date to announce every year,” Mayor Jean Stothert said. “It reminds us that summer is just around the corner and we can start planning to make it unforgettable with amazing Omaha events and traditions, including The City of Omaha Celebrates America concert and fireworks show.”

The concert date has jumped up the summer calendar since it was brought back after being canceled in 2019 and weathering the uncertain years of the pandemic. While the date is returning to a more traditional date this year, promoters are still open to changing the date to attract the right talent. “This year the stars aligned on June 30 and some really top-notch talent,” said Omaha Parks Foundation Executive Director Tiffany Regan. “We are committed to bringing world-class musicians to Omaha. It may change our dates from year to year, but we think it’s worth it.”

Last year’s event featured national rookie Dave Mason and headliner Sheryl Crow. This year’s talent list has not been revealed, but the organizers expect to announce it by the end of April.

The evening’s final fireworks display, one of the largest in the region, is already being developed by J&M Displays of Yarmouth, Iowa. The concert will be free for the public and family viewing. The music will start early in the evening and the fireworks will start around 10:00 pm.

The 2023 event will also feature videos from local bands and musicians. This opportunity gives local artists the opportunity to submit music videos or apply for studio time to create videos. Selected groups will be featured on screens throughout the day and between sets on the night of the show. Public television KPAO in Omaha will once again be a partner in the project. More information and details on how to apply will be posted on social media in the coming weeks.

The event is sponsored by the Omaha Parks Foundation and Douglas County and will be professionally managed by VGA with production partner TMS Omaha. For more information as the date approaches, visit and follow the event on Facebook by searching for “Memorial Park Concert”.
