Ceiling collapses at Grover Ice Rink

OMAHA, Nebraska (Nebraska) — A terrifying moment at a subway skating rink after a pipe burst in the arena, causing the ceiling to collapse.

It happened at Grover’s ice rink near 60th and Grover.

A group of young hockey players were practicing when staff noticed a leak in the ceiling. Everyone was immediately removed from the ice. A few minutes later, the ceiling collapsed.

Staff told 6 News that a pipe connected to the building’s fire suppression system burst, spilling hundreds of gallons of water onto the ice.

The general manager tells us that they expect the rink to be renovated and reopen to the public in the coming days. No harm done.
