“Baby Shark” – the first video with over 10 billion views on YouTube

The popular baby song about baby shark, “Baby Shark”, became the first video on YouTube with 10 billion views.

In November 2020, “Baby Shark” became the most watched video on the popular streaming platform, and now has surpassed the magical number of 10 billion views.

The children’s song, composed by South Korean educational firm Pinkfong and performed by Korean-American singer Hope Segoin, debuted in 2016 and became a viral hit in Asia, but did not enter the collective consciousness of Americans until 2019.

It has since been turned into a TV show “Cereals”, a live program and a cheerleading song by Washington baseball players during their World Series winning season. At one point she even reached the top 40 on “Billboard”.

The most-watched YouTube video shows two real children demonstrating a baby shark dance, while an animated shark and her family, including a grandfather with a shark mustache, swim calmly and later try to catch the children. However, they fail and the children celebrate their safety while the sharks watch from afar.
