Authorities in California are proposing that children be vaccinated without parental permission

“Alabama allows such a decision from 14, Oregon from 15, Rhode Island and South Carolina from 16,” said Wiener, a Democrat from San Francisco.

The senator says California has already allowed vaccinations of children 12 years and older against hepatitis B and human papillomavirus (HPV) and the treatment of sexually transmitted infections, substance abuse and mental health disorders.

“The ability to give young people an autonomous choice in terms of receiving a life-saving vaccine, regardless of their parents’ beliefs, is crucial to their physical and mental health. “It’s wrong for teens not to be able to get vaccinated because their parents do not want to or cannot take them to a vaccination center.”

Minors between the ages of 12 and 17 cannot currently be vaccinated in California without the permission of a parent or guardian unless it is a vaccine to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
