GEORGETOWN COUNTY, South Carolina – Human remains discovered in a portion of Georgetown County over the weekend have been recognized as those of a missing man.
The Georgetown Police Department and Community United Effort were conducting a search for 31-year-old Wesley Blake when skeleton remains were discovered in a “dense, thick region that required the use of UTV vehicles to explore.”
The bones were then discovered by a scene operator beneath bushes.
After an examination by a forensic anthropologist and forensic odontologist at the Charleston County Coroner’s Office, Georgetown County Coroner Chase Ridgeway recognized the bones as those of Blake on Thursday.
According to Ridgeway, the listed cause of death and manner of death are unknown. In addition, the coroner stated that the remains were discovered near 130 Ridge Street, not far from where he was last seen on July 29.
