At least one of 10 teenagers charged with murder in fatal Des Moines high school shooting earlier this year took plea deal
DES MOINES, Iowa — One of the ten teens charged with murder in the March drive-by shooting death of a 15-year-old kid outside a high school in downtown Des Moines has struck a plea agreement with prosecutors, and another is considering doing so.
Wednesday, 17-year-old Manuel Buezo pled guilty to second-degree murder and two charges of malicious injury, according to court documents.
The date of sentencing is May 30.
The prosecution agreed to a 20-year prison sentence. Kevin Martinez, 16 years old, was set to appear at a plea hearing on Friday.
In the March 7 shooting that killed 15-year-old Jose Lopez and injured two girls, they are among eight teenagers charged with murder as adults and two in juvenile court.
