Arlington Police Department confirmed that a trainee died during training exercise last week
ARLINGTON, Texas – On Friday, an officer-in-training unexpectedly fainted during training and died. The Arlington Police Department is in sorrow.
Friday, while engaging in defensive tactics training with fellow recruits, Recruit Officer Marquis Kennedy informed the training personnel that he was not feeling well.
He exited the activity and sat with a member of the training staff. Following this, he collapsed.
Kennedy was transported to the hospital after training personnel initiated CPR on him.
Sunday, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The official cause of death is currently unknown.
“Our hearts are torn,” stated the chief of police for Arlington, Al Jones. “The future as a police officer was bright and promising for the recruit Kennedy. I would like to offer, on behalf of the Arlington Police Department, our deepest sympathies to his family and our gratitude for his service to the city of Arlington.”
