A Tesla factory near Berlin said it has doubled production of vehicles

US electric car maker Tesla has doubled production levels at its European plant in recent months to reach 2,000 Model Ys per week, the company said.

However, Tesla is still far from its goal – to produce 500,000 electric cars a year at this factory.

– In ramping up production, Giga Berlin reached another milestone of 2,000 cars produced in a week with very good quality and is ramping up quickly, Tesla’s CEO said at the company’s recent quarterly results presentation.

About 12,000 people work in the factory in Brandenburg.

In September, it emerged that Tesla was operating the factory without a working fire alarm system, but has since installed a temporary system that has been approved by local authorities.
