A staff member was hurt at a Nebraska juvenile detention center
Monday, an employee at the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility in Omaha was allegedly assaulted by an inmate.
According to a news release issued by the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, the staff member was attempting to detain the offender when the inmate repeatedly punched the staff member in the head.
According to the agency, the employee was transported to a hospital in Omaha for assessment. The evaluation revealed that the employee sustained a significant injury, which is defined by the department as an injury that hinders a person’s normal activities and necessitates emergency medical attention.
According to the department, the event is being investigated, and the findings will be presented to the county attorney for possible criminal prosecution. The department will also enforce its disciplinary process, which might result in the inmate losing good time or receiving other punishments.
