A pharmacist gives simple advice for those who can’t make an appointment with a GP
The pharmacist stressed the importance of British people using “online services” when they try to book an appointment with their GP.
As most GPs in the UK struggle to keep up with the demand for appointments, Naveen Khosla, a seasoned pharmacist, has offered tips for Britons on how to secure elusive appointments.
A health worker from Now Patient told The Liverpool Echo: “It’s no secret that the NHS is under tremendous pressure and we are seeing nurses, junior doctors and other health workers go on strike as a result.
“One thing that many Britons have experienced in recent years is that visiting a GP is not as accessible as it used to be, and for a number of reasons.
“It’s understandable that people will feel frustrated if they can’t see their GP, so it’s important to be aware of other options you can take to get the treatment and advice they need.”
He added: “In today’s world, completing tasks and getting advice is much faster when it’s done online, and it’s the same for connecting with your GP.
“If you have the opportunity to subscribe to an online service, it is worth doing.
“This will give you access to appointments, online consultations and general advice, which will save you a lot of time trying to reach your GP by phone.
“It’s also important to know that your local pharmacist can offer advice on minor illnesses, medications and more, and NHS 111 was created to alleviate some of the hardships GPs face, so be sure to contact them if you feel like you need urgent help. “

Register for online services
There are many providers now integrating directly with the NHS to offer online platforms that connect directly to your GP.
While most platforms are used to order repeat prescriptions, there are some that also allow users to book GP appointments and record records such as test results.
One of the main barriers between you and the GP is the number of people contacting the practice by phone, so making an appointment online can be faster and more flexible.
Seek advice from a pharmacist
People often go to their GP when they feel unwell or have questions about the medications they are taking, but a pharmacist is entitled to advise on these matters.
If you have a mild illness or have questions about medications, the pharmacist will see you much faster, and if they can’t help, they may advise you to see your GP.
