A couple of Ogallalas were involved in a fatal crash in north Lincoln Friday night.

LINCOLN, Nebraska (Nebraska) — The Lincoln Police Department continues to investigate a one-vehicle crash that occurred near North 14th Street and Cornhusker Highway Friday night that killed 47-year-old Laura Devries of Ogallala.

At 8:17 p.m. Friday, Lincoln Police and the Lincoln Fire Department were sent to the area near the Barbara Hibner Football Stadium following a reported traffic accident with injuries. The investigation determined that the gray Ford Expedition was heading east on the Cornhusker Highway and exited on the ramp towards North 14th Street.

The LPD said the vehicle continued east and crossed both lanes of North 14th Street before colliding with a power pylon. He stopped in a grassy area east of the North 14th Street entrance to the Cornhusker Highway.

According to police, both passengers in the car were taken to a local hospital, where passenger Laura Devries died. Her husband, 47-year-old David Devries, was driving and is still in the hospital.
