A cold start to the last weekend of winter..
HASTINGS, Neb. (Nebraska) – The skies will clear causing temperatures to plummet as we begin the final weekend of the winter season. Saturday will start the day with morning lows in the teens.
Saturday morning (Nebraska)
Wind chills in the morning will feel below freezing and over northern areas, temperatures “look like” could be as low as 10 below. There won’t be much of a rally in the afternoon as some cloudiness accumulates over the eastern half of the state, keeping temperatures in the 20s with some lower 30s near the Kansas line.
Saturday afternoon. (Nebraska)
Northwesterly winds, gushing up to 35 miles per hour, will make teens feel shorter for much of the afternoon. Skies will clear in the late afternoon to evening hours as high pressure builds southward. It will be another chilly night Saturday evening through early Sunday with temperatures dropping into the teens, but the winds will shift from the westerly.
Sunday morning (Nebraska)
Sunday will be an about-face as winds shift from the southwest and, with more sun, we should salvage the weekend with a temperature turnaround as highs climb into the 40s to 40s. The coming week will get hotter and hotter as the spring season arrives on Monday. High temperatures will warm into the 50s and 60s with Tuesday being the peak day. An upper level depression will produce a chance of rain Tuesday night through Thursday night.
