A 12-year-old boy from New York City was shot while playing with other children in the lobby of an apartment.

The 12-year-old boy, who was shot and wounded in the lobby of a Brooklyn apartment building, was playing with other children when one of them pointed a gun at him – in what police said was likely a horrific accident, New York police officials said Wednesday. York.

The teenager, along with 8-12 other teenagers, was hanging out in a building on Bristol Street off Dumont Avenue in Brownsville around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a bullet in his left shoulder.

According to Essig, police found a .380 caliber shell and a matching Smith & Wesson firearm in the lobby of the building.

The shooting was not caught on video, but there is footage showing the reaction of two women who were on the second floor at the time.

“We have a couple of women who are witnesses who say [to the shooter], “Hey, what did you do? What did you do?” Essig said.

Essig confirmed that others who were in the lobby, whom the police consider to be “very young, under 16 years old”, disappeared and did not appear.

“We know there are other people in the lobby and we would like to talk to them,” he said.

The police description of the shooting matches that of the victim’s cousin, Saikuan Burgess, 25, who told The Post on Tuesday that his relative was hit while hanging out with other young people.

“When I went downstairs to ask him if he was all right, he said, ‘(Cousin), I was shot at,'” he said. “Then he looked at me and lowered his head.”
