90-year-old grandma reveals what she owes to looking 20 years younger – simple health tips

There is no well-kept secret that can guarantee a long life, but simple lifestyle changes can be enough to extend your life by a few years. Granny Edna Mae Giordano, 90, who looks 20 years younger, has never followed fad diets or fancy tricks. In fact, her approach is much simpler.

Edna attributes her youthfulness to three pillars: self-care, regular exercise, and gardening.

Self-care has been one of the buzzwords of the last decade, but its meaning is quite simple.

It describes the practice of taking action to maintain or improve one’s health, well-being, and happiness.

When it comes to exercise, the 90-year-old grandmother sticks to a simple routine every single day.

Edna started doing simple dumbbells and cardio in the mid-60s when she realized she didn’t want to lose her mobility and strength as she aged.

Along with exercise, she spends as much time as possible outdoors tending her vegetable garden and flower beds.

Her daughter, Dalis Radtke, 58, made a video of her mother’s incredible looks and mobility.

From various yoga poses to rolling and rocking, there is no core strength exercise that Edna can’t do.

Grandma said: “I have no secrets – I work out because of how it makes me feel after.

“There are days when I don’t feel like training, but I do it anyway. I know that if I don’t use it, I’ll lose it.”

Her daughter recalled that people always considered her mother to be several years younger than her real age.

Dalys, a fitness instructor from Frisco, Texas, credits her mother’s youthful appearance to her independence and self-confidence.

She said: “My mom chooses outfits that make her feel good, not what society says “grandmothers” should wear. She’s not afraid to wear trendy clothes even at her age!”

Although Edna credits her appearance in part to “good genetics,” the 90-year-old woman outlived her mother by 8 years.

In a TikTok video that Dalys posted to her account of home workouts and fitness tips for aging women, Edna explained that her mother was not physically active.

Edna’s first video, which her daughter posted in August of this year, went viral as viewers around the world couldn’t believe she was actually 90.

Dalys said, “My mom really thinks people place a lot of importance on her age and physical ability.”

They both hope that Edna’s story will remind everyone that “age is a way of thinking” and that a positive attitude towards aging is key.

Dalys added: “We inevitably age, the number of years you have lived should not limit what you can do or achieve.

“If you develop sustainable habits such as common-sense food choices, constant movement, and daily gratitude, your age will be determined by nothing more than the linear time of your journey.”
