69-year-old Omaha man, who was taken into custody last week, has died on Sunday in the Douglas County Department of Corrections
OMAHA, Nebraska – A man who was taken into custody by the Douglas County Department of Corrections the previous week passed away on Sunday morning.
According to Mike Myers, head of the Douglas County Department of Corrections, Ecclesiastes Oliver, 69, was discovered unresponsive at 5:14 a.m. on Sunday.
Myers states that Oliver received quick care from Corrections officials. Oliver was subsequently transported to Nebraska Medicine, where he was pronounced dead at 9:06 a.m.
According to state law, a grand jury will examine the death.
Oliver was admitted to the Department of Corrections on September 19, 2022 due to a federal assault charge against a government employee.
