61-year-old man from Lincoln is accused of killing another man on Tuesday, police

LINCOLN, Nebraska – Lincoln Police have identified the culprit in a homicide that occurred on Tuesday night.

Charles Alexander, 61, was arrested near South 11th Street and Lincoln Mall, according to police.

Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., Alexander was arrested for second-degree murder and the use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.

The investigation remains active.

According to Lincoln Police, a 36-year-old woman died of injuries sustained in a stabbing late Tuesday night.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., the stabbing occurred on W Fairfield Street in north Lincoln.

Officers rendered help until Lincoln Fire and Rescue came and transferred the injured woman to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her wounds.

The suspect is a 61-year-old guy from Lincoln whom the victim knew. Officers are hunting for him, but they have not yet located him.
