59-year-old man accused for sexually assaulting and kidnapping a 12-year-old child has been arrested by the LPD
LINCOLN, Neb. – The Lincoln Police Department arrested a 59-year-old man for sexually abusing and kidnapping a child.
Mensah Gozo, according to the police, was first detained for abduction and sexual assault of a child, but he now faces an extra case of sexual assault of a child and an additional count of child enticement.
Sunday about 10 a.m., police were notified of a missing person incident between 1st Street and Cornhusker Highway, according to the Lincoln Police Department. According to investigators, a 12-year-old girl left her house and has not returned.
Officers then started looking for the small child fiercely and little before noon, on Sunday, the girl came home to the region by Gozo.
Investigators suspect Gozo took the 12-year-old girl to his house, where he assaulted and sexually molested her, before returning her to her home.
Later on Sunday, Gozo was detained without incident.
Investigators have not yet verified a past connection between Gozo and the youngster, according to the police.
When the child came home, she was not wearing the same clothes she left in, according to the police.
“The choice to hold a news conference about this matter is difficult. We serve both victims and survivors. Our sympathies and focus are now on the victim and the victim’s family. We also acknowledge that this person may be accountable for more crimes, as stated by Assistant Chief Jason Stille.
Investigators are want anybody who may have had contact with Gozo to talk with them. The police said that anonymous information and tips may be sent.
Policing the privacy of the child and her family is the police’s first priority, thus it was a tough choice for them to come up and discuss this case.
