55-year-old New Yorker passed out in a brutal robbery: police

Police said Thursday that a 55-year-old man passed out during a brutal robbery near a Brooklyn grocery store.

The victim was standing outside Dean’s convenience store on 13th Avenue near 73rd Street in Dyker Heights around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday when a man hit him from behind, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head, authorities said.

The heartless robber then proceeded to attack the victim, kicking her in the head before stealing a wallet and an unknown amount of cash, police said.

The suspect fled, heading south on 13th Avenue, police said.

The victim was taken to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn with “serious injuries,” police said.

His condition on Thursday morning was unclear.

Police said investigators were still looking for the suspect, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans, a blue cap and black and white sneakers at the time of the robbery.
