5 parking garages open for free for Charleston residents ahead of Ian

CHARLESTON, South Carolina – Ahead of Hurricane Ian, the mayor of Charleston announced on Wednesday that some downtown parking garages will be free for residents.

Thursday at 5:00 p.m., the following garages will be open to city residents free of charge:

Aquarium Garage – 24 Calhoun Street East Bay/ Prioleau – 25 Prioleau Street Queen Street – 93 Queen Street Visitor Center – 63 Mary Street

Saturday at 5 p.m., all garaged vehicles must be removed.

According to city officials, everyone using the garages must adhere to the following procedure.
To be eligible for free parking, vehicles must be withdrawn by the specified time.
Pull a ticket when entering
Press the black “help” button in the upper right corner of the call box while departing. A staff member will react and assist you.
Mention that you parked to minimize floods.
When asked, provide your name and address.
If you have not already done so, insert your ticket into the machine. The attendant will lift the gate for your exit.

Boats, trailers, and golf carts are not permitted in garages.
