3,738 acres has been burned so far as firefighters have been battling a wildfire in the Nebraska Panhandle since Tuesday

SCOTTSBLUFF, Nebraska – Since Tuesday afternoon, firefighters have been working to contain a wildfire that is located in the Panhandle of Nebraska.

At around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, all available mutual aid was requested in the area of County Road 61 in Banner County to assist in fighting a significant wildfire. Wildfire was mainly under control as of Wednesday morning, but officials are concerned about the region near to Wright’s Gap Road because of the potential for further spread.

Tim Newman, the emergency manager for Region 22, stated that there are between 15–16 volunteer fire departments and 50–60 personnel helping out with the operation.

According to mapping done from above, 3,738 acres have been consumed by the fire thus far.
