28-year-old man from Fort Lauderdale was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder charges, police

According to the court documents, a 28-year-old male with a history of violence is currently being charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Walter Lee Kendrick Jr. was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department accompanied by a K9, and a SWAT unit. On Sunday, he was apprehended while he was climbing out the rear window of an apartment located in the 1200 block of Northwest First Street in Fort Lauderdale.

In anticipation of his trial for grand theft, he had been held at the Broward County Jail but had since been granted bond and released.

In February, Kendrick was suspected of shoplifting two televisions, an air mattress, and a pillow from a Walmart located in Hollywood. The combined value of these items was $777.

Kendrick was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a handgun in August 2021. He was accused of threatening a woman with a firearm while standing outside of a liquor store in Pembroke Park.

In April of 2019, Kendrick was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and battery. He is accused of beating one woman in front of her two young sons before threatening her and her sister at gunpoint. The incident allegedly took place in a home in which Kendrick lived.

Kendrick was arraigned in court for the first time on the counts of attempted murder in the second degree. The assistant state attorney for Broward County stated that Kendrick fired more than a dozen shots in the most recent incident, but Kendrick did not provide any information in court.

According to the documents, Kendrick was being held in the Broward County Jail on bonds totaling $50,000, but he would continue to be incarcerated since he violated the conditions of his previous release on the grand theft allegation.
